Our Madame X'ers had so much fun on our beautiful farm during “Sow and Tell”, that we had to share the love in the form of photos! Our new and returning young ladies learned so much during their time with us! We taught them about a range of subjects related to Black farm history (we went waaaaay back…) and food sovereignty, and we touched upon everything from plant identification and sustainability; to homesteading skills and animal husbandry. Our Madame X’ers learned while exploring the farm, fields and animals with Farmer Riggins and Madame X, and they listened attentively during lunch under the cool shade of lush fruit trees. No boring classrooms over here! Our fresh watermelon popsicles did a nice job of keeping us cool and refreshed under the hot sun.

Oh, and did we mention that they also learned how to uncap, extract and bottle honey from bee frames? That they learned how to make fresh strawberry jam and both pickle and can cucumbers? Yeah, we know... Pretty dope, but that's The Madame X way.

Join us next time.
