Rhapsody in Bloom

“Rhapsody in Bloom”

Join us for a delightful day of floral fun at Madame X’s picturesque farm! Our ‘Rhapsody in Bloom’ experience offers a unique opportunity for people of all ages to immerse themselves in the beauty of nature, while learning the art of floral bouquet making, Madame X-style. Tell your soccer mom and dad friends, brother, grandma, classmates and neighbors about our “fun for the whole family” nature workshop. Our interactive experience includes an activity-based, self-guided tour of our charming farm, and a beautiful, formal tea service featuring tea, desserts and sandwiches from local, black-owned businesses; while Madame X, herself, discusses an aspect of African-American floral and garden history

Next, we’ll engage in a hands-on, professionally-taught flower bouquet making class, in which participants create their own lush flower arrangements to take home in a beautiful, glass vase!

We’re honored to welcome a special guest instructor to the Madame X family who will guide our afternoon activity! Our talented and accomplished Oakland-based floral designer will help us take our individually unique floral designs to another level! You’ll learn:

  • Introduction to Floral Design principals including balance, scale, harmony, color theory, texture, and form, in creating beautiful and appealing, lush bouquets

  • Tools and Materials: You’ll be introduced to the essential tools and supplies needed for floral design, such as floral snips, chicken wire, floral tape, vases and various containers. We’ll demonstrate how to use these tools safely and effectively.

  • Techniques: We’ll teach you various floral design techniques, including wiring, taping, clustering, layering, and bundling.

  • Understanding Flowers: You’ll learn about different types of flowers, foliage, and greenery we’ll use in our arrangements. We’ll discuss the characteristics of various blooms, their lifespans, and how to handle them properly to ensure longevity.

  • Composition and Structure: We’ll guide participants in composing balanced and cohesive arrangements, and discuss various styles of arrangements, such as traditional, modern, romantic, minimalist, and avant-garde; and how to achieve them.

  • Hands-On Practice: We’ll allow you plenty of time to practice your skills as you work on your fabulous creations. Ariana will provide feedback and guidance as you work, encouraging your experimentation and creativity.

Finally, you’ll retire to the “card salon,” where you’ll have a wide selection of beautiful blank cards from which to choose, in order to properly gift yourself or someone you love, with nature’s art of your own design.

Madame X rarely comes out of hiding, so don’t miss your opportunity to enjoy this “fun on the farm” activity along with our warm, welcoming and inclusive community.

In stealth and secrets,

M/X
