Ain't MisBEEhavin'

Your kids will want to make a BEEline for this super fun class! See, what we did there? Oh, well...In this class, our little Madame X spies in-training will:

- Watch a brief video of Madame X visiting the bees where they’ll get their honey panels for honey extraction. It’s a safe way to tell our bee’s origin story!

-View live bees in action and learn how to identify the queen bee in an observation box (not to be confused with THE REAL Queen B, Beyonce!)

-Learn about the African-American zoologist, Charles Henry Turner (1867-1923), and his immeasurable discoveries related to honey bee research.

- Participate in a Covid-safe honey tasting with a flight of 10 different samples, including bee pollen, to discuss the wide variety of characteristics and tasting notes of the honey based on the flower and plant nectar collected by the bees. The kids will be surprised by how different each sample tastes!

- Manually take the wax capping off of the honeycombs gathered earlier that morning, to prepare the frame for honey extraction

-Harvest the local honey by hand using a honey extractor

-Strain, bottle, label and package their own branded jar of honey to take home with them (or gift to family and friends!)
